Kahlil Gibran
We live only to discover beauty. All else is a form of waiting.
We live only to discover beauty. All else is a form of waiting.
It is also good to love, because love is difficult. For one human being to love another human being, that is perhaps the most difficult task that has been entrusted to us, the ultimate task, the final test and proof, the work for which all other work is merely preparation.
If you are not at least a little bit quirky, then you still haven’t found yourself.
If you don’t cry at least once a month as an adult, then you are missing out. You are not living life to the full – you are not in touch with the beauty, the mystery, the grandeur of human existence.
Don’t back down just to keep the peace. Standing up for your beliefs builds self-confidence and self-esteem.
When you take pride in the fact that you’ve beaten your peers or adversaries, you do well to remember: you crossed an imaginary finish line, driving a different car, on a different track in different weather. The real race was always against yourself.
If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help someone else.
Dreams are good but best done with eyes wide open. Love on the other hand is best done with eyes tightly shut.
